OUR LADY OF KNOCK SHRINE AT THE TRENTON AOH . . .
Our Lady's Shrine Knock, located in County Mayo on the West Coast of Ireland and the Western edge of Europe, is one of the great Marian shrines of the world, attracting over 1,500,000 visitors annually. It is an oasis of peace, tranquility and deep spirituality where many who come to see, remain to pray and find reconciliation. Knock is the scene of the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph and St. John on 21 August 1879. The Apparition was seen by fifteen people whose ages ranged from six years to seventy-five and included men, women, teenagers and children.
In 1992 the AOH Monsignor Crean Division #1 answered the call of State Chaplain, Father Derbyshire, to pray for an increase in Vocations. The men and women of Trenton decided to build a replica of the Shrine in Ireland, giving people a place to pray for vocations and any other intentions that are in their hearts.
The money raised for the Shrine has come through individual contributions, and numerous events such as the Annual Lady of Knock Golf Tournaments, Wolfetone Concerts, and from the prayers of many.
Plans are now in place to memorialize all who have contributed, and to continue to improve and maintain the Shrine site. If you would like to become part of this extraordinary project please contact Jim McSorley at 609-587-4427 or send e-mail to: knockshrine@trentonaoh.com
